Glomuvenous malformations are hereditary
malformations characterised by raised, coloured
(pink or blue) lumps caused by malformed veins,
inherited in a dominant manner. The
malformations themselves can be solitary or occur
in groups anywhere across the body. They
particularly affect the fingers and toes, eyelids,
inside the mouth and can also form internally on
muscles. The lesions themselves can be painful,
triggered by physical contact, changes in
temperature or often times they can be painful for
no reason. They can require treatment in the form
of surgery or laser treatment, though this may not
be possible in the cases of multiple or extensive
malformations.
