Closing a Clinic
What if you decide to close your treatment and storage clinic?
Dialogue with your HFEA inspector
Contact your HFEA inspector to inform them of your intention to close the clinic.
You should discuss the contingency arrangements in place for:
a) the transfer of your records to either another licensed centre or the HFEA,
b) the transfer of material held in storage to another licensed centre.
Going to the Licence Committee
Your inspector will draw up an Executive Summary report that will be presented to the Licence Committee at the next available meeting.
You will be sent the Licence Committee minutes and an accompanying letter informing you of the outcome and any additional requirements.
Transfer of records and stored material
Patients may request for their eggs, embryos or sperm, and their records to be transferred to a specific clinic.
You should notify your inspector when stored materials have been transferred and when the centre has been closed.
