Professor Christopher Barratt has been a member of the HFEA since 2002. He was the Chair of the HFEA/Department of Health Committee on ART Accreditation, which developed accreditation standards for the new EU directives for tissue banks, and is chair of the Horizon Scanning Group (2007).
He has worked in assisted reproductive medicine since 1985 and is recognised both nationally and internationally as an expert on male infertility, on which he has written over 140 research papers and edited seven text books. He serves on a number of fertility committees and is a regularly invited speaker at international scientific conferences. He is a member of the WHO committee developing standards in male fertility.
Professor Barratt is the Head of the Reproductive and Developmental Biology research group at The University of Dundee, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, Scotland.
