Resources and Corporate Development Directorate

The HFEA's Resources and Corporate Development Directorate incorporates the Human Resources, Facilities and Finance Department which is responsible for the HFEA corporate governance framework.

Regulation Directorate

The HFEA's Regulation Department manages the central function of the HFEA which is to licence the storage of gametes and embryos, IVF treatment and donor insemination, and the use of embryos in research projects and to inspect clinics where these activities are licensed, The Department also deals with adverse incidents reported by clinics and investigate complaints about these services inspection reports are considered by License committees, the minutes of which are published on the website, with the report.

Policy and Communications Directorate

The HFEA's Policy and Communications Department prepares draft policy papers for discussion by the HFEA Authority, and monitors relevant developments in research, licensing and service provision. The Department also includes the HFEA Press Office & Public Relations. The Public Relations team provides a wealth of information to patients including the HFEA Guide to Infertility and the maintenance of this website.

Information Management Directorate

The Information Management Directorate incorporates the Registry Department (including Quality Assurance and Opening The Register), the Information Technology Department, and the Operational Audit team  This Directorate is therefore responsible for the collection, verification and analysis of data related to licensed treatments within the UK.
