Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill update

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill has completed its Committee Stage in the House of Commons.

This will be followed by the Report Stage, which involves MPs considering amendments passed during Committee.

HFEA prepares for Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill

As part of the preparation for the new Bill, the HFEA is keen to engage and involve patients, clinics and other stakeholders in our early thinking on updating policies.

Horizon Scanning annual report to be published

The latest annual report from the HFEA´s Horizon Scanning Panel will be published in early July when the Panel meets at the next conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

Long term data updated


An updated edition of the HFEA´s long term data report has been published on the HFEA´s website.

The report, drawn from data recorded on the HFEA´s register, provides national statistics on various treatment types since 1991.


Open Authority Meeting

Agenda and papers for the next Open Authority Meeting in central London on 2 July will be available on the HFEA website at the end of June.

Code of Practice update

Access the updated Code of Practice that now incorporates the recently approved General Directions on transfers of sperm, eggs and embryos.

New number for Infertility Network UK

Infertility Network UK (IN UK) have launched a new freephone telephone number for anyone seeking advice on any aspect of infertility or involuntary childlessness.

The new number, 0800 008 7464, has been supplied by Class Telecommunications to celebrate ten years as the National Council for Voluntary Organisations approved telecoms provider to charities and the voluntary sector.


 

Training workshops on reducing multiple births

Half day regional workshops are being held across the UK focused on the importance of accelerating the reduction in multiple births, to share knowledge and encourage open discussion.

These workshops are aimed at all staff in fertility centres and all those who commission fertility services. Attendance is free, but places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

ESHRE conference

The 24th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) will be held in Barcelona, Spain, 6 to 9 July 2008.
