HFEA Data 1991-2006

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has a duty to keep a record of all registrations, treatments and outcomes that result from assisted reproduction techniques. The collection of records is known as the 'Register' and it holds details of treatments carried out since the Authority was established in 1991.

The HFEA report, "A long term analysis of the HFEA Register data 1991-2006", provides national statistics drawn from the HFEA Register. It serves as an informative tool for those within the sector and for researchers. Patients may also find the report useful as background information when considering or undergoing treatment.

The report is updated periodically as new data becomes available but does not provide data for individual clinics. See our 'Find a Clinic' search where you can find the latest success rates and read more about clinics near you.

Only the data has been provided in this updated edition. PDF and Excel versions of the data tables and graphs are available (below) but no summary document or presentation has been prepared.

Note: The information that the HFEA publishes is a snap shot of data provided to us by licensed centres at a particular time. This information may be subject to change as individual centres notify us of amendments. Before publication, we perform a preliminary validation process on the data, and ask the centres to confirm its accuracy, for which they remain responsible. The latest validated statistics (including the latest live birth rates) are for treatments carried out in 2005. Some preliminary data about treatments carried out in 2006 is included in some tables for information but has not yet been validated and does not include live birth figures.
