Complaints about a licensed clinic

HFEA policy for handling complaints about licensed clinics

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) is able to investigate complaints and concerns from patients or donors which may suggest that a licensed clinic has failed to comply with the terms or conditions of its licence or a failure by a clinic to follow its own complaints procedure.

The purpose of this complaints policy is to ensure clinics meet the standards required by the HFE Act and Code of Practice and that these standards are maintained.

The role of the HFEA is not to act as a mediator or adjudicator. Complaints are investigated through inspection or other means to ensure clinics' compliance with the HFE Act.
