HFEA Chair - Mrs Sally Cheshire
Sally has been an HFEA member since 2006 and became Interim Chair in January 2014 before taking the post on a permanent basis in April 2014. Sally also previously chaired Audit and Governance Committee and Licence Committees. She is the Chair of Health Education North West (HENW) which plans and delivers the quality of education and training for the 180,000 NHS employees across the North West of England.
She is a finance and business professional with 20 years experience across a range of sectors in strategy, finance and accounting, mergers and acquisitions and business operations. She is a chartered management accountant, beginning her career with Procter & Gamble and then GEC-Marconi before joining Deloitte & Touche, one of the “big 4” professional services firms in 1994. She was a Director at Deloitte for many years, leading the firm’s global work on activity based costing and advising on business issues and change management on a broad range of projects in the UK and around the world. Her last five years with the firm were spent mainly in health, directing a series of global programmes in the orthopaedics sector to help organisations restructure their business operations, improve their governance and deliver improved customer services to hospitals.
Sally is also a school governor in an inner city primary in Manchester, and an advisory board member of the social enterprise, Girls Out Loud, which nutures and improves the self-confidence of vulnerable teenage girls.
