Professor David Archard

Biography

Professor David Archard has recently joined Queen's University Belfast as Professor of Philosophy. He was previously Professor of Philosophy and Public Policy at Lancaster University for 9 years. He has also taught at the Universities of Ulster and St Andrews.

He has published extensively in social, political, legal and applied moral philosophy, and has a particular interest in the areas of sexual consent, democratic decision-making and public policy, and children, family, and the state.

He is Chair of the Society for Applied Philosophy and is actively involved in the organisation of Philosophy Summer Schools in China.

He is a member of the editorial boards of a number of philosophy journals, and a member of the advisory groups for various research projects. He joined the HFEA in November 2005.
