Summary of request

The Authority was asked for the region with the highest number of IVF treatment in under 25s, what that number is and the top three reasons for under 25s having treatment.

HFEA response

Looking at the data for 2011 and considering the first treatment a patient undergoes (anywhere), the region with the highest proportion of patients under 25 is the North East.

The top three reasons for infertility reported for the under 25 cohort in that region are:

1. Patient - Tubal Disorders
2. Partner - Male Factor, Oligozoospermia
3. Patient Unexplanied, Partner - Other infertility reason
