F-2012-00250 - NHS patients who received funded cycles of treatment and data for PCTs
21 November 2012
Summary of request
The Authority was asked for the number of patients receiving 1, 2 or more than 2 cycles of treatment starting before 2010, in 2010 and in 2011, as well as the number of NHS funded treatments for PCTs.
HFEA response
Please see the attached spreadsheet for the requested information, which contains two tabs. '2010-2011' gives the details for those patients who received funding at West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire or Manchester between 2010 and 2011. 'Until 2011' gives the details for those patients who received funding from the relevant PCTs at any point up to and including 2011.
The first table (in both tabs) relates to nationwide figures, and the second table relates to the named PCTs. These larger tables end with five patients that fit that particular 'treatment pattern'. There are a number of 'treatment patterns' that have fewer than 5 patients associated with them but in releasing these patterns the HFEA would be running the risk that this data could, when used in conjunction with other data, be used to identify a person to whom the HFEA owes a duty of confidentiality. This information is therefore exempt from the general entitlement to disclosure provided by section 1 of the FOIA under section 44 of that Act.
