F-2012-00217 - Unstimulated Donor Insemination success rates
02 October 2012
Summary of request
The Authority was asked to provide information regarding the number of un-stimulated Donor Insemination cycles the patients at London Women's Clinic who had live births as a result of this treatment underwent before their successful cycle.
HFEA response
Please see Table 1 below.
Table 1
| Count of previous un-simulated DI treatment cycles | Cycles that resulted in a live birth |
| 0 | 9 |
| 1 | 6 |
| 2 | <5 |
| 3 | <5 |
| 4 | <5 |
| 5 | <5 |
| 6 | <5 |
| 7 | <5 |
| Total number of births | 23 |
Table 1 shows the number of cycles that resulted in a live birth and how many previous cycles those patients had. For example 9 of the 23 births resulted from the first cycle of un-stimulated DI treatment, 6 from the second and so on. We do not give more details than '<5' when the numbers become small to avoid the possibility of disclosing information that might be used to identify a patient.
