Summary of request

The Authority was asked for the latest information regarding the proportion of egg donors from the UK and if these donors were compensated under the old system.

HFEA response

The first part of this question may be answered by reference to our website: http://www.hfea.gov.uk/3413.html. The HFEA did not change the compensation policy for imported gametes, therefore the previous system remains (i.e. reasonable expenses incurred by this donor, and loss of earnings up to a daily maximum of £61.28 but with an overall limit of £250 for each course or cycle of donation (local currency equivalent)).
