HFEA welcomes the Nuffield Council on Bioethics report on information in donor conception
17 April 2013
The HFEA welcomes this report about donor conception published by the Nuffield Council on Bioethics today.
Their recommendations balancing the ‘interests’ and ‘responsibilities’ of all those involved in the fertility treatment process very much mirror the work we have already undertaken.
Last year we launched the National Donation Strategy Group which aims to raise awareness of donation and improve information availability to all those affected by donor conception.
Professor Shelia McLean, Chair of the Group said:
“As the Chair of the National Donation Strategy Group, I particularly welcome the report’s recommendations’.
We recognise the importance of information to people affected by donation and one of our tasks is to help donors provide better information about themselves for future families.
We look forward to studying the council’s report in more depth.”
