Summary of request

The Authority was asked for information regarding PGD misdiagnosis where a pregnancy was subsequently achieved between 1995 and 2012.

HFEA response

A search of the HFEA's incident database shows that there have been three incidents reported to the HFEA of PGD misdiagnosis where a pregnancy was subsequently achieved. Two resulted in a live birth and one resulted in termination of the pregnancy. These reported cases concerned Mucolipidosis Type II, Tay-Sachs and a chromosome 15 rearrangement.
