Summary of request

The Authority was asked for the number of cases of OHSS reported as incidents to the HFEA by Origin Fertility Care (05/07/2011 to 04/07/2012).

The Authority was also asked for the number of treatment cycles reported by Origin Fertility Care in which 20 or more eggs were collected (for the most recent 12 months for which we hold verified data: 01/07/2010 to 30/06/2011) and whether this clinic has now reopened and if the HFEA has imposed any conditions on its licence.

HFEA response

Four incidents involving OHSS were reported to the HFEA by Origin Fertility Care between 05/07/2011 and 04/07/2012.

Origin Fertility Care reported 15 cases where 20 or more eggs were collected in treatment cycles taking place between 01/07/2010 and 30/06/2011. The HFEA were notified by Origin Fertility Care that they re-opened on 25/07/2012.

The HFEA has not imposed any conditions (beyond the standard HFEA licence conditions) on the clinic’s licence.
