Genetic condition awaiting consideration - Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus

Individuals with Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI) are unable to concentrate urine normally. This results in a high urine output and a resulting need to drink large volumes of fluid. If a high enough fluid intake is not maintained, dehydration may develop and can be life-threatening. Regular, life-long blood tests are needed to monitor electrolytes and kidney function. NDI may be associated with short stature and intellectual impairment, particularly if fluid intake is inadequate.
