F-2012-00131 – Termination of pregnancies following IVF treatment

Summary of request
The Authority was asked for:
1. For the calendar years (a)2010 and (b)2011 the number of IVF pregnancies have been terminated and the reason for the terminations.
2. For the same two years the number of other fertility treatment pregnancies that have been terminated and the reasons for the terminations.
HFEA response
HFEA outcome data, which contains the information requested for treatments licensable by the HFEA, has been verified up to 30 June 2010. A new six months’ worth of data is verified and released every six months and the second half 2010 will be available this October. The attached file contains the data requested up to 30 June 2010.

Figures of less than five have been removed from the attached table to protect patients’ identity. To avoid removing further figures from the table we have not split the data down by IVF and other fertility treatment as requested.
