Summary of request
The Authority was asked for information about -
a) IVF cycle funding and how this is distributed across clinics. The HFEA started collecting funding information in 2007 and data is currently verified up to June 2011.
b) The number of IVF cycles in the first six months of 2011 and of these, how many previous IVF cycles each patient had undergone.
Also, whether we could explain certain trends in cycle numbers and whether the HFEA lost all its data pre 2004 and had to re-compile it.

We cannot confidently suggest reasons for the trends highlighted with the data we have available us and at no point was all pre-2004 HFEA Register data lost.
