Summary of request

The Authority was asked for information about the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 Scotland (RIPSA). In particular, how many times the HFEA has authorised operations or investigations under RIPA or RIPSA in the periods a) 1st March 2009– 28th February 2010, b) 1st March 2010– 28th February 2011, and c) 1st March 2011– 29th February 2012. In each instance, the nature of the offence (e.g. graffiti, fly tipping etc.) and details of how many resulted in prosecutions and convictions.
