HFEA response

The core requirements for an HFEA licence are set out in the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 (as amended), sections 12-15 set out the conditions of a licence. Please be aware that the original 1990 Act has been updated, most recently in 2008. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority has also issued a Code of Practice for Clinics that sets out further guidance on requirements. The current and all historical editions of the Code can be found on our website here: http://www.hfea.gov.uk/1682.html .

With regards to fertility clinics operating in the UK between 1978 and 1991, the Authority does not hold this information.
