Dr Alan Thornhill
Dr Thornhill has worked in the field of reproductive biology for 20 years and has been a clinical embryologist for the past 13 years, working in 4 large NHS and private HFEA licensed IVF centres. Dr Thornhill has a degree in Biology, with a speciality in Genetics, and wrote his PhD on the “Effects of the Sex Chromosomes on early growth and development in the Mouse”.
Dr Thornhill has done a variety of media work discussing assisted reproduction and reproductive genetics, and has appeared on a number of television programmes exploring these areas, including Channel 4’s ‘Embarrassing Bodies’ and Sky News. Dr Thornhill has also contributed to several boards including as the current secretary of Alpha, the International Society for Scientists in Reproductive Medicine (2005-current). He has also published 40 peer-reviewed articles and over 50 abstracts on Developmental Biology.
