F-2011-00337 – Medicated / un-medicated frozen embryo transfer

Summary of request

The Authority was asked for information about statistics held by the HFEA on the relative success rates of medicated and un-medicated frozen embryo transfer.

HFEA response

The HFEA register of treatments does not record medication provided to patients undergoing cycles of frozen embryo transfer, therefore, I am afraid we cannot distinguish between live birth rates following medicated and un-medicated frozen embryo transfer.

You may find the British Fertility Society (http://www.britishfertilitysociety.org.uk/) and Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (http://www.rcog.org.uk/ ) helpful to contact, or patient support groups such as Infertility Network UK (http://infertilitynetworkuk.com/ ).
