F-2011-00326 - Donation policies review
15 November 2011
Summary of request
The Authority was asked for information about the HFEA’s donation review consultation, specifically:
1. What has been the total financial cost to date to the HFEA of the Donor Review Consultation(s), under whatever related title, with all relevant breakdowns and outsourcing, since December 2009 until October 2011?
2. Under what specific remit of the HFE Act and Regulations does the HFEA presume its duty to increase the supply of human gametes for patient use?
HFEA response
The HFEA’s Donation Review was carried out between December 2009 and October 2011. A significant amount of the work involved was carried out by the HFEA Executive and is accounted for in the HFEA’s annual staffing budget. A minimal amount of work was outsourced and the attached document provides an itemised list of costs.
- Release package (84kb)
As part of the HFEA’s consultation, the Authority sought views on the broader barriers and facilitators to donation. In doing so, the HFEA does not presume a duty to increase the supply of human gametes for patient use.
