Statement on Mail on Sunday article regarding James Paget Hospital:

 

‘When this incident was reported to us in April 2010 it was immediately investigated and followed up by inspection.

 

The centre has since put in place robust protocols to ensure no further samples would be destroyed inappropriately.

 

We inspected the centre again this summer and have licenced them for another four years.

 

As the regulator we make information about this available on our website and the investigation reports into this incident have been available for some time.’
