Summary of request

The Authority was asked for copies of all ‘Research information and Data Sheets’ held by the Authority relating to research licence R0179.

HFEA response

This amounts to four data sheets, which are attached. As it can be seen from the attached document, the centre submitted a revised data sheet for 2008 (v2) that replaced their original submission (v1).

Some of the information contained in the attached document constitutes ‘personal data’ within the meaning given in section 1(1) of the Data Protection Act 1998 (‘DPA’).  It is the Authority’s opinion that disclosure of such information would be in breach of the first data protection principle (fair and lawful processing) as set out in Schedule 1 to the DPA since none of the conditions set out in Schedule 2 (personal data) to the DPA are met.  The information is therefore exempt from disclosure under sections 40(2) and 40(3)(a)(i) of the FOIA and has been redacted. Furthermore, we have assessed the public interest in disclosure of this information and consider that it is not served by disclosure as the information is not at the core of the document’s purpose.
