Summary of request

The Authority was asked for information about the number of patients receiving IVF treatment where the cause of the infertility was related to previous voluntary sterilisation.

Data held that relates to treatments prior to 1999 aggregates the reasons for treatment into broader categories.   From this data it is not possible to separate cycles where the reason for treatment was voluntary sterilisation from cycles where the reason was different but related according to the logic of the taxonomy.  No relevant data is held relating to years after 2007 as this information ceased to be collected in October of that year following the introduction of new register forms.

This data was extracted from the HFEA’s data warehouse containing Register data as at 18 January 2011.  Please note that the information in our database may be subject to change as licensed centres notify us of information that updates or corrects information they have previously supplied.
