Mr Hossam Abdalla reappointed as Authority member

The HFEA is today announcing that Mr Hossam Abdalla has been reappointed to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, the independent regulator for fertility treatment and embryo research. The reappointment runs until the end of September 2011.
Mr Abdalla is the Clinical Director at the Lister Fertility Clinic at the Lister Hospital, London. He has been a member of the Authority since January 2004 and his appointment has been made in accordance with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) Code of Practice.
Professor Lisa Jardine, Chair of the HFEA, said:
“I look forward enormously to continue working with Sam. His commitment and experience make a valuable contribution to the Authority.”

- The HFEA was set up in August 1991 as part of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990. The HFEA’s principal tasks are to license and monitor clinics that carry out in vitro fertilisation (IVF), artificial insemination (AI) and human embryo research. The HFEA also regulates the storage of gametes (eggs and sperm) and embryos.
