New HFEA Chief Executive announced

Prof Lisa Jardine, Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority today announced that the Authority had appointed Alan Doran CB as its Chief Executive. Mr Doran has been interim Chief Executive since October 2007, on secondment from Department of Health.

Lisa Jardine said:
“It is great news that we have continuity of leadership at the Authority as we go into the first full year of our new legislation. There are challenging times ahead for all arms length bodies.  I look forward enormously to working alongside Alan Doran, making sure that the HFEA goes on improving the quality of provision it gives to the sector.”

Alan Doran said:
“I could not be more delighted. The HFEA plays a truly singular role in society in regulating assisted conception services. Our members are a joy to work with and our staff are capable, talented and forgiving of their elders. I am looking forward to building on the enormous changes of the past few years with them all.”
