After many years as a film documentary producer for BBC TV and then as an independent producer for Channel 4, Catharine began working for the judiciary in 2002.

She now sits on tribunals in three jurisdictions: mental health, employment and social security; she sits on the Determinations Panel of The Pensions Regulator and is an Authority Member and Audit Chair of The Human Tissue Authority. She is a magistrate in the City of Westminster and a member of the Greater London Family Panel.

She is also a trustee of the London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy.
