Julia Drown is a member of the Health Professions Council and a partner member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Business Planning and Governance Committee.  She is a patron of Advocacy after Fatal Domestic Abuse.

From 1997-2005 Julia was the Member of Parliament for South Swindon. In Parliament, she served on the Health Select Committee and chaired its inquiries into maternity services.

She was also Chair of the All-Party Maternity Group and an executive on the All-Party Osteoporosis Group. After leaving Parliament she chaired the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit’s Report on “Antenatal Screening for Group B Streptococcus Colonisation – Protocol Development for a Randomised Controlled Trial.”

Prior to being a Member of Parliament Julia was an NHS Finance Director and worked in the NHS for eleven years.  She was a County Councillor in Oxfordshire for seven years and a spokesperson on social services issues.
