Get ready - 8th Code of Practice, consent forms and Directions
The 8th Code has been updated to reflect changes in the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 and in HFEA policy. The consent forms and Directions have also been updated in line with the amended Act.
The Code, consent forms and Directions came into force on 1 October 2009.
We have restructured all these documents, making them easier to read and navigate.

Public consultation
In making these changes, we listened to the concerns and comments raised during the consultation period through our online questionnaire, at our public events, and in one-to-one meetings. We have incorporated your advice and suggestions.
Workshops for centres
Over 350 centre staff over the summer attended seven workshops across the country to help clinics prepare for introduction of the 8th Code, revised consent forms and new inspection/licensing arrangements.
