The consultation process
Consultation opened: 17 November 2008
Consultation closed: 18 February 2009
The HFEA sought public feedback on how to best present fertility clinic performance and outcome data.
The aim of the consultation was to discover how, through the presentation of clinic information, we can:
- best inform patient choice
- promote good clinic practice
- support HFEA policies.
Consultation results
The consultation outcomes and results will be published after May 2009.
Consultation process
The consultation was split over two phases:
Phase one
During November and December 2008 we gathered general feedback from stakeholders on the possible approaches we could take when presenting clinic information and data.
We gathered feedback through an online questionnaire, stakeholder meetings and focus groups. Feedback was based around a discussion document that set out the key issues:

Phase two
Feedback from the first part of the consultation was used to create a clinic presentation model.
The draft model detailed all the clinic information that we should be presenting.
We sought feedback on the model during a number of public meetings. Clinicians, fertility sector professionals and the public were invited to attend one of the three meetings held in Manchester, Bristol and London.
