Dear Colleague,
Confirmation of Change to Licence Fees
In my letter of 31st March 2000 (Ref CH (00)4), I advised centres that fee levels might have to be revised for the period 2001/2 once our new budget was known. As you are aware, the Treasury currently requires the HFEA to raise 70% of its budget from licence fees.
It has been decided that there will be no immediate increase in either initial fees or additional fees for IVF cycles. However, fees are currently under review and may be raised later in the year. The additional fees for donor insemination cycles will rise to £18 for treatment cycles from 1st April 2001, as advised in my previous letter. Below is a summary of licence fee rates as at 1st April 2001 :
Initial fees (no change)
- Treatment centres £500
- Small DI centres (less than 50 cycles) £250
- Research only centres
- Storage only centres £200
Additional fees - IVF (no change)
IVF fees remain at £36 per chargeable treatment cycle for treatments carried out from 1st April 2000 onwards.
Additional fees - DI
DI fees are increased from £14 to £18 per chargeable treatment cycle for treatments carried out from 1st April 2001, as previously advised. The increase in the additional fee for DI cycles is subject to final agreement by the Treasury.
If you have any queries about the new fees, please contact the HFEA's Finance Manager, on 020 7377 5077 (ext. 204).
Yours sincerely,
Ruth Deech
Chairman
