A summary of the meeting of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority in June 2000

At the June 2000 Authority meeting, the HFEA began its discussion of the responses given to the joint HFEA/ACGT (now the HGC) consultation paper on PGD and the egg sharing guidance prepared by the Code of Practice Committee together with representatives of the BFS and the RCOG. It approved the 1999/2000 Annual Report and Accounts, and agreed its programme for the 2000 Annual Conference on 5th December. It was confirmed that Baroness Kennedy, Chairman of the Human Genetics Commission, had agreed to speak at this meeting. Also noted by the Authority were the procedures for handling any criminal investigations of alleged breaches of the 1990 Act.

Finally, the Authority was informed that the Chairman of the Authority together with other Members and the Chief Executive had been invited to address Deputies of the French National Assembly about how the HFEA operated.
