Dear Colleague,

Licensed Centres Panel

The HFEA is keen to increase its involvement of stakeholders in the development and delivery of our business plan and our operational activity. We are currently setting up a patients' panel as part of our strategy for improving our involvement of patients in the way we work. I am writing to you now to invite you to join a similar panel for licensed centres to advise us on the next steps in our programme for modernising the way we regulate clinics and also to help us develop our policies.  Projects we are currently working on include the application of a risk matrix to centres to determine the degree of regulatory attention warranted and reducing the bureaucracy around licensing and inspection.

We would like to recruit a group of people who are representative of the sector in its diversity of size, ownership and geographical spread. In addition to some Persons Responsible, it would be ideal also to have a range of staff from centres in terms of expertise and experience including counsellors, embryologists, fertility nurses and clinicians.  We aim to have up to 25 members, who would meet two or three times a year face to face with virtual meetings in addition.  Membership would be for a maximum term of two years.

I would be grateful if you could consider this invitation and circulate it to your staff.  Expressions of interest should be sent to Jo Heptinstall-Bolton (johb@hfea.gov.uk) by 30 June 2005 on the attached form.

Yours sincerely,

Trish Davies
